Altered CDV

Was having a bit of a play last night whilst watching tv!  I don’t usually work directly onto the original old photo usually on a copy which I’ve printed out and mounted but this time I altered the real thing. Lovely little size to work on just 4″ x 2.5″.

Arch time again!

This weeks theme over on Gothic Arches is ‘History’.  I decided to go down the route of family history so used a picture of my dad as a baby along with his two brothers, so let me introduce you …………… from left to right we have Ernest (known as Ernie), William (known as Bill) and Robert my dad known as Bob.  Must say Ernie looks slightly less than willing to have his picture taken in this shot!

The background is a mixture of paint, ink bit of text paper and polyfilla!!

……..SARAH. 

I promised to put all the names of people who left a comment HERE in a hat and pick one to receive the canvas.  Well last night the names went in and the one pulled out was Sarah.

Mixed Media Monday….

….has a theme of School this week, so I came up with this piece.

I printed off a copy of a vintage photo and mounted it onto some really heavy card then painted round the image of the girl first with gesso and then with a mixture of acrylics. 

In the original picture she has her hand on a chair but I painted over that and then painted in a blackboard instead.  I added a little script paper, a bit of stamping and some grungeboard letters (painted with crackle paint) and smudged a little ink here and there to finish it off.

Two challenges in one!

 Cheating a little here because I actually made this skinny for the challenge over on  Skinny Saturday which is ‘sitting pretty’.  However as the theme for Theme Thursday is warm colours I thought I’d use it for both!

 Went to an antique/flea market yesterday and bought several old photo’s, the one I’ve used here being one of them!  Background is done with chalk inks and a little overstamping of a few images.

School days….

Old School is the theme over on Gothic Arches this week. The first one I made went in the bin but had another go and came up with this….

I used one of the new arch shapes I drew last week, painted it with acrylic, stamped some background images added a picture (of me!) and popped on a couple of grungeboard bookplates.

Texture…..

…….is the theme on Mixed Media Monday so I thought this little 7″ x 5″ canvas board would fit the bill perfectly.  I painted the board first with acrylics, then added some paper from an old book and the image of the little girl before adding more paint to blend everything together.  Then I squeezed on some ready made polyfilla and stippled it with my finger to add some texture.  When it was dry I lightly touched it with some chalk inks to add a little colour.  Then finished it off with some computer generated wording and a clay embellishment I made.

As I have just passed the 10,000 hits mark on my blog I’d like to say thanks to all those who take time to stop by and leave messages and comments.  I’ve gained so much confidence by the lovely things you say and learnt so much along the way………..so I thought I would give this little canvas away as a thankyou! 

I’ll pick a name next monday from all those who like to leave a comment on this post
